Our work is rooted in lived experience, community trust, and a deep understanding of the challenges that returning citizens face during their reentry into society. Through community-based initiatives, we meet people where they are, walk with them through the hard moments, and help them build a future that reflects their potential, not their past. Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about iCAN Global Ministries.
I am Sherri L. Cox, and iCAN was born from both lived experience and a deep calling to ensure that returning citizens from incarceration are met with opportunity, dignity, and support, not barriers and silence.
I know firsthand that reentry is more than coming home. It is the work of rebuilding identity, relationships, stability, and hope. Too often, individuals navigating this journey are expected to do so alone, without guidance, understanding, or access to the resources needed for successful reentry. iCAN exists to change that reality.
iCAN Global Ministries was founded on the belief that people are more than their past mistakes and that transformation is possible when faith-based initiatives are rooted in compassion, accountability, and community. Our work is guided by faith, shaped by lived experience, and strengthened through partnerships with families, employers, faith institutions, and service providers who believe in second chances.
What began in Prince George’s County, Maryland, one of the state’s highest reentry jurisdictions, has grown into a vision for national impact. We are building models that are effective locally and adaptable across communities nationwide, ensuring that reentry support is holistic, coordinated, and sustainable.
At iCAN, we walk alongside individuals and families as they navigate reentry. We provide mentorship, workforce preparation, education, behavioral health support, transitional housing, and opportunities for leadership and growth. Most importantly, we offer connection, because no one should have to rebuild their life alone.
Whether you are someone seeking support, a community partner, a mentor, or a donor, I invite you to be part of this work. Together, we can restore hope, strengthen families, and build pathways to stability and purpose in Washington, D.C. and beyond.
Thank you for believing in the power of transformation and the promise of second chances.
With gratitude and purpose,
Sherri
